Then last year they approved a $25.000 Platinum Card only 8.24% Rate after 0% interest runs out in 15 months, with only a "GOOD" credit score rating. It's been over 3 years now, I have to say I'm very very impressed! NFCU Online access experience is Superior to SDCCU. So finally they talked me into it, I opened a Personal Bank/Savings account with NFCU only because this made it made money transfers to and from my brothers/Nephews easier.
I am telling you, do yourself a favor and don't attempt a mortgage with these people. My lock expires in about a week and a half and I have no idea what it going on. I have since left voicemails and numerous emails to several people there some of which are supposed to be supervisors. She simply said she will review my application and get back with me. She never left a last name or phone number or anything. Several more days passed and I get a voice message from a "Lori" who says she is taking over my loan. I emailed back a few days later but didn't get a response back. One day I emailed the person handling my mortgage and was told it went to underwriting. I applied for a mortgage and initially there were a few bumps in the road then things seem to be going well. They are probably great in other areas of banking but not on mortgages. I am telling you, save yourself the anguish and go somewhere else if you need a mortgage. At this point I am so far in the process and have already paid for an appraisal that I am stuck having to wait it out. After establishing a new contact there I had a closing date in September, then October 4th, then October 18th and now October 28th. Keep in mind I started this "adventure" at the end of June. I had to track down his supervisors to find out if anyone who was working my file and what their name was. No mortgage yet and the guy that was handling our stuff was fired. They have already filed an extension for the credit lock so I guess they know it will take much longer. I started on 5 September 2019 and now it is 29 October 2019 and the answer again today is credit review! I am not very confident that my paperwork will be correct even if I make it to the end. I have excellent credit but the answer I always hear is it is in credit review. I have to call several times and email dozens of times and not until I write in all caps do they respond maybe. Original review: I have been trying to refinance my home with NFCU and it is a nightmare! If the rate and fees weren’t so good I would have left already but it may not happen anyway because you can never figure out what stage they are in with the process. If you don’t believe me try to get one closed yourself and good luck! Also just a quick reminder you will never be able to talk with them once you are in the process because customer service is extremely poor including the management and upper level management. December 4th is my 90th day so I am going to have to make a decision either let them extend again or just quit thinking this is going to happen and move to another company.
I really don’t think this will ever get done to be honest because the level of incompetence at this mortgage company is of the scale.
